David D. Klapper, age 61 of Madison and formerly of Beaver Dam, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 23, 2017 at home.

David was born on August 3, 1955 in Beaver Dam, the son of Duane and Barbara (Franke) Klapper. After graduating from Beaver Dam High School in 1973, David proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1975-1980, where he taught hydraulics. David was very talented and mechanically inclined. He could strip down an entire jet airplane and put it all back together. He could draw anything, was very meticulous and organized. He loved to garden, gamble and buy weekly scratch-off tickets and Megabucks. His pride and joy was his 2012 Mustang, complete with his late sister Lisa’s name on the spoiler.

David is survived by his siblings, Chris (Mike) Chamberlain of Mercer, WI, Viki (Rick “Freight”) Leichtle of Beaver Dam, Eddie (Melissa) Klapper of Beaver Dam and Dewey Klapper of Beaver Dam; special aunts, Alice Imme of Beaver Dam and Joyce Hagen of Fond du Lac; uncles, Bob (Sandy) Klapper and Pete (Elaine) Franke; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lisa Klapper; maternal and paternal grandparents; uncle, Warren “Bruno” Imme and other relatives.

In honoring David’s wishes, private family services will be held.
