Vivian Y. Matthews, age 78, of Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Hillside Manor.
The memorial gathering for Vivian will be at Praise Assembly of God Church, 119 West Maple Avenue in Beaver Dam on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. The memorial service will follow at the church on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Randy Carey officiating.
The former Vivian Yvonne Johns was born on March 19, 1938 in Adrian, Pennsylvania to Woodrow “Woody” and Rhoda (Croyle) Johns. She worked at Wyco Shoe Factory for a number of years and attended Moraine Park Technical College where she earned her certificate as a Nurses Aid. Vivian had many talents, which included crocheting, baking, and playing piano. The most important thing to Vivian was her children and grandchildren… but at a close second, was her love for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Vivian looked forward to going to a Friday night fish fry and on Sundays she attended church at Praise Assembly of God where she was an active member.
Survivors are her children, Kimberly (Charles) Davis of Kittanning, PA, Rhonda (Kurt) Fritche of Burnett, and Crystal Matthews of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, Melinda (Daniel) Greene of Waupun, Kelly Wercinski(Wendy Wendlandt) of Beaver Dam, Eric Wercinski of Iron Mountain, MI, Tyler Fritche (Joyce Doss) of Burnett, Kelsey Fritche (Adam Luck) of Burnett, Paige Schroeder of Beaver Dam, Jason Meyers of Kittanning, PA, Larry Matthews of Kittanning, PA, and Jonathon (Kayla) Siebert, Jr. of Richlands, NC; five step grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Cindy Milliken of Worthington, PA and Corenna Johns of Adrian, PA; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and Step father, Franklin “Pap” Milliken; daughter, Tawny Lightner; brothers and sisters, Terry Milliken, in infancy, Sherry Fornell, Patrick Johns, Franklin Milliken, and Ronald Johns; sister-in-law, Audrey Johns; granddaughter, Lorenda Luketic; and aunt and uncle, Josephine and John “Jack” Dunmire.
