Striving to provide an event that entire family can enjoy, the 2017 Jersey Street Music Festival will be offering many supplemental activities at this year’s festival.
Beginning on Thursday, June 15, the fest kicks off at 4:00 pm with the return of the carnival and midway to Horicon. Calkins Midways, based out of Riverview, FL will be the provider of this year’s carnivaland midway. Also at 4:00 the annual Taste of Horicon benefitting the Discher Park pavilion restoration project will take place. At 6:00 pm, the music begins with the much-anticipated Wisconsin Independent Music Showcase featuring 4 of Wisconsin’s best up-and-coming bands, Skyline Sounds, Feed The Dog, Rough Isaac and MadPolecats.
The carnival continues on Friday, June 16 at 10:00 am, along with an exciting drone racing competition hosted by the local enthusiast group, Bladed Fury Racing, that will take place in the Discher Park ball fields at 6:00 pm. Horicon Phoenix Program will be hosting a steak fry fundraiser at 4:00 pm with Horicon American Legion Post 157 providing a cookout after 7:00 pm. Music offerings on Friday include local favorites Dexter Road as well as Brother O’ Brother from Indianapolis, Suck The Honeyfrom Cleveland, OH, Jennifer Hall of Chicago along with perennial festival-favorites Mutts, also from Chicago. Headlining Friday night will be Nashville’s The Blackfoot Gypsies.
Saturday, June 17 brings a full day of activities starting with Horicon Bank’s 5k Run / Walk For The Red, White & Blue opening with registration at 8:00 am. The carnival opens again at 10:00 am on Saturday, with food trucks complementing the midway’s food offerings starting at 11:00 am. Also at 11:00 am will be the Horicon Phoenix Program’s Small Business Expo featuring many local businesses as well as service organizations. Then at noon, watch for the incredibly talented area artists taking part in the festival’s chalk art competition. The petting zoo will also be in operation between noon and 5:00 pm.
No matter what you like to do, you’ll have a great time at the 2017 Jersey Street Music Festival! And if you’re a fan of music, the festival will give you the opportunity to meet some of the country’s best artists up close and personal. There’s really not another event like it!
