The United Kennel Club (UKC) Dog Show will return for a second year to the Dodge County Fairgrounds. More than 100 dogs appeared in two separate events in 2016. Organized by the Dodge County Canine Club, the UKC Dog Show is scheduled for May 13 and 14, 2017 from 9:00 am to approximately 5:00 pm both days.
Spectators may attend the events for free and there is always ample free parking on the fairgrounds. All events will be held indoors this year. Attendees will enjoy events spread across multiple venues at the fairgrounds. Four different venues will be featuring an assortment of events: rally obedience, conformation, nosework (scent detection) and barn hunt.
Dogs and their handlers will be traveling from all over the Midwest, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Iowa and Kansas. This is a great opportunity to research different breeds and speak to the dog handlers about their dogs. Polly Dake-Jones, President of the Dodge County Canine Club, expects close to 200 dogs across all four events this year. Dake-Jones is a conformation and rally obedience judge for the United Kennel Club and has been showing dogs in venues since 1999. She noted that having four diverse events really makes the UKC Dog Show special. There will also be a real chef making food for the dogs.
Dog handlers may enter in the conformation, rally obedience and nosework events, by visiting the UKC website. Participants must be United Kennel Club registered. The barn hunt event has its own registration through the Barn Hunt Association website or by calling 262-490-3736 or emailing email@example.com.
UKC members are seeking volunteers for event clean-up and monitoring of the grounds on May 13 and 14. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in donating your time.
