Obituary: Hans G. Berger

Hans G. Berger, age 65 of Beaver Dam, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, May 25, 2017.

Hans was born on May 30, 1951 in Germany, the son of Fritz and Else (Neubert) Berger. After immigrating to the United States with his family in 1955, he grew up on a farm in Lowell and graduated from Dodgeland High School. During high school, he played football, basketball and baseball. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Kossen. Hans worked at John Deere in Horicon for 35 years, retiring in 2008. He enjoyed staying active by running, walking and playing tennis, pickleball and ping pong.

Hans is survived by his wife, Kathy of Beaver Dam; his step-grandchildren, Nicole (Brian) Hilgart of Green Lake and Ryan Sutton of Beaver Dam; step-granddaughter, Sage Sutton of Beaver Dam; siblings, Christa Sokolenko of Watertown, Fred (Rosemary) Berger of Beaver Dam and Ursula Berger of Menomonee; and further survived by other relatives and friends.

Hans was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Siegfried and Ingrid; brothers-in-law, George Sokolenko and Bruce Pamperin and other relatives.

A memorial gathering for Hans will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam. A short prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Cornerstone, followed by inurnment at Lowell Cemetery.
