Obituary: Francis “Frank” DePaul Eckerstorfer

Francis “Frank” DePaul Eckerstorfer, 83, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2017, Father’s Day, with his loving family by his side after a two year battle with cancer.

Francis was born on March 24, 1934 the son of Frank and Catherine (Loeffler) Eckerstorfer in St. Paul, MN.  He was a graduate of Murray High School in St. Paul, MN and St. Cloud State University, MN with a degree in Business Administration.

Frank proudly served two years of active duty in the United States Navy and three years in the Naval Reserve.

He spent 26 years working in insurance claims business.  He was active in the Christian Family movement in St. Cloud, MN for years.  Frank was the owner and operator of Hillcrest Homes and Eagles Wings, Inc. of Beaver Dam from 1984 until 1998.  He had served on the school board of Mayville High School for four years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Margarete “Peggy” Feia from St. Cloud, MN; his six children and 12 grandchildren: Richard “Rick” and his sons Colin and Ashton, John “Bear” and his sons Ian (Jennifer), Evan and Austin, William “Bill” and his wife Marina and hischildren Matthew and Ashley, Michael “Mike” and his wife Pat, Lori and her husband Alan and their children Emily and Billy; Robert “Bob” and his wife Tess and their children Jessica, Maggie and Sarah and his sister-in-law Mary Feia.  He is further survived by several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Catherine Eckerstorfer, his brother Richard and an infant son Jimmy.

A memorial gathering will be on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring St, Beaver Dam. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Erwin officiating.  Inurnment will follow at a later date at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
