Obituary: Jerry “Red” Gorman

Jerry “Red” Gorman, age 73 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at his home.

Jerry was born on April 12, 1944 in Madison, the son of William and Margaret (Simon) Gorman Sr. On November 7, 1964 he was united in marriage to Delores Schwantes at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. He worked as a welder for John Deere for 32 years. His hobbies and interests included fly fishing, stream preservation, and teaching fly tying to people of all ages. As he thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, he was a member of Trout Unlimited and loved camping and trips to Montana to go fly fishing. His front porch and his lawn were always immaculately maintained, something he took great pride in. 

Jerry is survived by his loving wife Delores of Beaver Dam; children, Ann (John) Woolley of Portage, MI, Tim (Angela) Gorman of Mayville, and Patrick (Elizabeth) Gorman of Fond du Lac; grandchildren Katlyn (Garrett) Terburg, Mitchell Woolley, Magdelyn Woolley, Keaton Allison, Colin Allison, and Maria Gorman; great-grandchildren Bruce and Maverick Terburg; brother William (Judy) Gorman Jr.; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; aunt and uncle, Elizabeth and Earl Bridge; and other relatives.

A memorial gathering for Jerry will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S Spring St., Beaver Dam, until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 p.m with Fr. Mike Erwin as Celebrant. Inurnment will take place at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Beaver Dam. 

If desired, memorials in Jerry’s name may be directed to Trout Unlimited Aldo Leopold Chapter or St. Katharine Drexel Parish.
