Obituary: Richard “Dick” B. Priewe

Richard “Dick” B. Priewe, age 81, of Beaver Dam, died on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.

The memorial gathering will be at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on Saturday, July 22, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The American Legion is invited to walk through at 2:45 p.m. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. John R. Leiting will be the celebrant and military honors will be provided by the John E. Miller, American Legion Post #146, following the service.

Richard Bernard Priewe was born on April 11, 1936 to Alfred and Elsie (Krohn) Priewe. He proudly served his country, joining the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Dick was united in marriage with Betty Knueppel on December 6, 1958 in Juneau. He worked at Mayville Metal Products for 40 years and retired in 1998 on his 62nd birthday. Dick enjoyed watching the American Legion Baseball games and especially enjoyed racing. He was a NASCAR fan and was a big fan of his nephew Craig Priewe and many other racing relatives and good friends on the local tracks. Dick was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #1163 and the American Legion Post #146.

Survivors are his wife, Betty; children Rick (Tammy) Priewe of Braselton, GA, Vick Priewe (Tammy Campnell) of Beaver Dam, Tina (Mark) Towne of Rhinelander, Rodney Priewe (Michelle) of Cambridge, Shari (Keith) Wegener of Oconomowoc, and Kim Stachura of Scottsdale, AZ; step children, Debra (Ron) Giuffre of Pine River, and Kenny Sylvester of Weyauwega; brothers and sisters, Eunice Helgeson of LaCrosse, Shirley Larsen of Fort Atkinson, Alice (Roger) Cummingham of Edgerton, Roger (Shirley) Gehrke of Fort Atkinson, Walter (Pamela) Priewe of Beaver Dam, Gerald (Donna) Priewe of Beaver Dam, Donald (Mary) Priewe of Green Bay, Ralph Priewe of Oshkosh, and Bruce (Sandi) Priewe of Beaver Dam; 14 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sisters: Eleanor Margraf, Inez Krause, Dorothy McFarland, and Mary Gaull, Brothers: Robert Priewe and Gordon Priewe. 

The family wishes to thank the staff at Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam and Hillside Hospice for the compassionate care that they gave to Dick and Betty, as well as his family over these last few weeks.
