Obituary: Ruth Lucile (Thiel) Hoeft

Ruth Lucile (Thiel) Hoeft, 88, of Neenah, formerly Beaver Dam, passed away Friday, August 4, 2017 at Valley VNA in Neenah.

A visitation for Ruth will be held on Monday, August 14, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam. A Celebration of Ruth’s life will follow at 5:00 p.m. with John R. Leiting as celebrant.  Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens in the town of Trenton, Wisconsin.

She was born January 10, 1929 in Cherokee County, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Rose (Gresch) Thiel. Ruth married her high school sweetheart, Lyle Hoeft on July 30, 1949. Lyle preceded her in death.

Ruth was a lifelong Beaver Dam resident and proprietor of Everybody’s Attic antique shop and Jay’s Triangle Inn. She was an eager learner, a self-starter and always a dreamer who pursued careers in nursing, antiques, teaching, retail sales and tavern ownership.

Ruth will be missed and always loved by her children: Danise (Alvin) Johnson, Kim (Steve) Diloreto, and Jay Hoeft; her seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, surviving sisters: Lorna Starks, Janet Clark and Susan (James) Rank and by her many other relatives and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters: Dorothy (John) Italiano, Gladys (Jack) Wheeler, Mary (George) Leonhard; and five brothers: Frances (Leah) Thiel, Ralph Thiel, Donald (Dorothy) Thiel, Raymond (Janet) Thiel, and Leroy  Thiel.

Ruth’s family is grateful for the kind care she received from the staff in Emerald Court at the Valley VNA and from Affinity Hospice. God bless each of you.

Memorial donations in Ruth’s name may be given to the Dodge County Humane Society.
