Jack H. Voit, 92, of Beaver Dam and formerly of Milwaukee passed away on December 18, 2017.
Jack was born on December 27, 1924 to Michael and Florence (Bucher) Voit in Milwaukee and due to his wonderful parents he was brought up to be a compassionate and friendly person. He learned to “give’ instead of “expecting from others”.
On February 3, 1945, he was married to his beautiful wife Ruth Strehlow for 57 years until her death in 2002. She wasn’t perfect and he wasn’t either, but their marriage was. They had a nice home in Brown Deer, WI for 45 years. When Ruth became ill in 1996, it was no problem for Jack to take care of her until she passed away in 2002. In 2004 Jack moved to Stone Terrace. He really liked it here in Beaver Dam and always said that the friendliness of the people just amazed him.
Jack was a working foreman for a major commercial construction company for over 40 years. He was a cement mason and bricklayer. He had to give up construction in 1984 and was retrained in computers. After retirement, he remained active with working on his house, helping others with their projects and doing his stained glass art work. His time at Stone Terrance was spent reading and playing with his computer. He always considered himself a “loner”. His art work can be seen in the meditation room at the BDCH, where he donated lamps and religious pictures and other places throughout the hospital. Having Kim Miller accept his glass art work for the hospital made him extremely happy.
Jack said “Tears for me would be out of place as I have enjoyed my life to the fullest, and I never dreamt I’d live as long as I did.”
Jack wishes to leave you with this quote, “Death’s a path that must be trod, if man would ever pass to God.”
Jack will be laid to rest next to his loving wife Ruth at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
