Obituary: Mildred C. “Mickey” Weiss, age 87

Mildred C. “Mickey” Weiss, age 87, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation for Mildred will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Monday beginning at 12:00 noon with Fr. Mike Petrie officiating. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Juneau.

Mildred was born on September 17, 1930 in Thiensville, Wisconsin to Servatius and Anna (Mielke) Demerath.  She graduated from Cedarburg High School in 1948. On October 6, 1951, Mickey was united in marriage with Albert Weiss; they were married for 45 years at the time of Albert’s death.

While busy raising her family, Mildred was a partner with her husband on their dairy farm. She loved to sew, quilt, garden, knit, be a 4-H leader, and was a fan of the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers. Mildred served as a member of the Dodgeland School District School Board during the 1980’s. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Beaver Dam and also attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon.

Mildred is survived by her children, Barbara (Michael) Rooney of Juneau, Martin (Susan) of Beaver Dam, Phillip (Barb) of LeRoy, MN, Joseph of Juneau, Thomas (Nancy) of Cadott, Robert (Tamara) of Juneau, Kenneth (Debra Norenberg) of Fond du Lac, Mary Nehmer of Denmark, Jane (Joseph Hanson) of Janesville, Joan (Timothy) Ziegel of Edgewater, FL, Jennifer (Rick) Lietzau of Lakewood, CO, and Edward of Juneau; 30 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; her sisters, Dorothy Gramoll and Bette Bonne; her brother, Don; a sister-in-law, Jennie (Jim) Greisch; other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; a grandson, Jonathan; her brothers, Lawrence Demerath and Robert Demerath; and her sisters, Bernadine Schultz and Joan Demerath.

If desired, memorials may be made in Mildred Weiss’ name to St. Katharine Drexel Catholic School in Beaver Dam.
