I was thrilled to see these photos come through on my Facebook news feed this morning. Exactly one year ago we had a painting by Terrill Knaack of this beautiful bird on our Anniversary cover. To see one actually here on the Horicon Marsh is really awesome. The original cover a several photos are in the gallery. Also special thanks to Sue Gronholz for sharing her adventure below!

We had heard about several Snowy Owl sightings in the area, and since we’ve never seen one, we decided to try our luck at finding one! My friend (and coworker), who drives across the Marsh on her way to work, told me about seeing the owl on several occasions recently. Todd and I took a drive on Hwy 49 on New Year’s Day; however, we did not see the owl. (We did see 2 eagles though!) This morning we decided to try again and our efforts were rewarded! The Snowy Owl was perched on the pump house on Hwy 49 and casually posed for several photographers, including us!
