Watertown Main Street Program invites everyone to come to Pumpkin Palooza in downtown Watertown on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 from 10 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. A variety of activities are being planned for people of all ages to enjoy. Highlights for the day include Halloween-themed sidewalk games, trick-or-treating on Main Street from 1-3 p.m., and the traditional costume parade at 3 p.m. City-wide trick-or-treating will run from 4-7 p.m. that evening followed by the Pumpkin Lighting Ceremony at the Watertown Public Library at 7 p.m. Having trick-or-treat on Saturday is a change from the traditional Sunday evening.

As part of Pumpkin Palooza, community members are encouraged to bring pre-carved pumpkins for display to the library starting at 10 a.m. on Oct. 29. These will be featured in the Pumpkin Lighting Ceremony. Community members are also invited to take part in a new scarecrow decorating contest where the scarecrows will be displayed on lamp posts along Main Street.

Other activities planned for Pumpkin Palooza include a craft market, a guided walking tour of the historical homes on N. Washington Street, cookie decorating, “spooky” story time, face painting, fall photo fun with props at the Main Street Plaza, and more. In addition, the library will host a presentation on paranormal research at 6 p.m. on Oct. 28 to set the mood for the Halloween festivities on Main Street.
