Don Browning finds himself on some kind of adventure that takes him through the scenic route of the heartland of America. His adventure takes Don back to the days of his youth, spent crammed into the backseat of his parents’ station wagon, alongside his little sis; as they take a cross country family vacation that mirrors Don’s trip in the present. Along the way Don in the present, as well as the Browning family in the past, encounter a wide array of colorful characters that personify the great melting pot of the United States – everything from the ambivalent small town mechanic, to the super cheery waitress at a greasy spoon in the middle of nowhere. And at the center of it all? Why the literal, geographic center of the contiguous United States, of course!
Written by Tim Clue and Spike Manton, “Leaving Iowa” is a story about the family vacation; which encompasses with humor and heart a tale that people of all ages will not only enjoy for its comedic value, but will likely find the experience all too familiar.
