Obituary: Raymond C. Thiem

Raymond C. Thiem, age 79 of Kingston, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the V.A. Hospital in Madison.

Raymond was born on January 29, 1935 in Markesan to Clarence and Emma (nee Tobais) Thiem. He attended Markesan High School with the Class of 1953. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force as an air craft mechanic for 27 years, retiring in 1979. Following his service, he worked at Fox Lake Industries in Berlin. 

Raymond was united in marriage to June McBrair on June 25, 1955 at the Green Lake Lutheran Church; she preceded him in death in 2007. He is survived by his daughters, Fay (John) Pondish of Rapid City, SD; Rose (Kenneth) Brown of Chewelah, WA; his daughter-in-law, Maia Thiem of Honolulu, HI; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; his sister, Phyllis (Scott) Baldwin of Ripon; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, Jeffrey, his sister, Jeri Thomas and two foster sisters, Arlyn Duerr and Joyce Duerr-Smith.

A Funeral Service for Raymond will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 316 Vine St., Kingston with Rev. Edward Frey officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at church, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be at Grand Prairie Cemetery, Town of Green Lake, with graveside military honors provided by Kingston American Legion George Thompson Post 395. In honoring Raymond’s wishes, casual attire for the funeral is requested.
