Obituary: Roman J. Marek

Roman J. Marek, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2014 at Hillside Manor.

The visitation will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Parish on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 10:30 AM until 11:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church on Tuesday with Fr. Mike Erwin officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

Roman was born on August 1, 1918 in Bloomer, Wisconsin, one of fourteen children born to Frank Marek and Katherine Kunesch. In 1945, he married Eleanore Harings. They were married for 56 years until her death in 2002. Mr. Marek served with the Army Anti-Aircraft division in World War II and was honorably discharged in June, 1945. He and Eleanore lived in Waukesha until 1970 when they moved to Beaver Dam for his job as service/parts manager for a local car dealership.

He leaves behind his loving daughters, Cheryl (George) Domrose, Sandra (Jon) Cechvala, Gail (Thomas) Zwicky and Lori (Guenter) Bergmann. He had six grandchildren, Catherine, Meredith, Christina, Ryan, Eleanore and Anna. In addition he had four great grandsons, Roman, Garrett, Marek and Grayson.

In addition to his wife, Eleanore, he was preceded in death by his parents and all of his thirteen siblings. 

The family would like to thank the V.A. Hospital in Madison, Hillside Manor and Hospice, and Gary and Sandi Tiedt for all the care and assistance they provided. He lived his life to the fullest and can now rest in peace.
