Obituary: Evelyn E. Jahnke

Evelyn E. Jahnke, age 92 of Markesan, left this earth to be with her Lord on May 9, 2014. She was currently living at the Barrett House in Markesan.

Evelyn was born on January 7, 1922 in Markesan, the daughter of William and Esther (nee Mielke) May. She taught school at Lonely Cedar in Mackford. On March 26, 1953, she was united in marriage to Earl Noble. He preceded her in death on August 26, 1985. In 1986, Evelyn married Clarence Jahnke. He preceded her in death on November 25, 1997. Through the years she was active in her church, Farm Bureau, Manchester Seniors group, Green Lake County Fair, and was a member of the Wisconsin Association of HCE for 74 years. She was honored to be the 2006 Parade Marshall for June Dairy Days.

Evelyn loved to sew, do embroidery and puzzles, play cards, watch Jeopardy, sit in her outdoor swing, bake, which she would share with many people, and volunteer where needed. She especially enjoyed watching the neighborhood children as they grew up.

Evelyn is survived by her cousins, Leroy Mielke, wife Sharon and family; Phyllis (Mielke) Hockley, husband Leonard and family; other cousins, neighbors and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Willard and Kenneth.

A Funeral Service for Evelyn will be held on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Markesan with Rev. Paul Yoder officiating. Visitation take place prior to the service at church, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at Markesan Memorial Cemetery.
