Spring St in Beaver Dam.  There will be a celebration of life meal following the burial at St. Katherine Drexel Parish Center.  A visitation will be held at the church starting at 10:30 am until the time of service.

Marie was born on March 5, 1914 in the Town of Beaver Dam, the daughter of Fred and Eva (Pfragner) Kuenzi.  She was a 1933 graduate of Beaver Dam High School.  She attended St. Agnes School of nursing in 1938 and later attended Marquette University in 1942.

Marie’s first job was with the Milwaukee Health Dept until she enlisted in the US Army Nursing Corp. where she served 2  1/2 years in the South Pacific during the WWII conflict.  After her time in the service, she worked as a public health nurse, worked at  Van Bront Industries (now known as John Deere) as an industrial nurse and in the early 50’s she accepted a position with the city of Beaver Dam as the Public Health Nurse where she remained until her retirement in 1978.

Marie was an adventurer, teacher and family stronghold.  She had a great zest for life and the outdoors, always camping, traveling, canoeing, hiking and golfing  just to name a few.  She loved playing bridge with her dear friends and going on the yearly spring outing looking for the first flowers to emerge from the soil.  There was never a dull moment in Marie’s life as she attended all events and many family vacations of her numerous nieces and nephews through 4 generations.

Marie will be greatly missed by her special nieces Marcella Kastenmeier and Rita Sheskey of Beaver Dam, her special nephew Robert Kuenzi of West Bend and two great nieces Margaret Sadoski of Randolph and Donna Rochwite of Beaver Dam.  She is further survived by (14) nieces and nephews, (102) great nieces and nephews, (148) great great nieces and nephews and (26) great, great, great nieces and nephews all of whom Marie has touched their lives in one way or another.

Marie was preceeded in death by her parents, 6 brothers John, Nicholas, Frank, Walter, Robert, Elmer Kuenzi and 3 sisters Clara Rushlow, Elsie Hammer and Anna Guse along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Hillside Manor staff for the great care they extended to Marie during her stay there.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Maries name and directed to St. Katherine Drexel School; St. Katherine Drexel Conference of St. Vincent DePaul Society or Hillside Manor.  The family also requests no food donations for the celebration meal.
