Carol A. (Anton) Nelson

Sunrise was her favorite time of the day and in the early morning hours on Sunday, May 25, 2014, the kind and gentle soul of Carol A. (Anton) Nelson was called from this earth to greet the new day in heaven.  She was surrounded by the love of her family as they sang her home to Jesus.

Carol was born on December 11, 1940 to Gustave and Adeline (Roeder) Anton in Randolph, WI.  She was raised on the family farm before moving into the village of Randolph in 8th grade, graduated from Randolph High School and was married to her high school sweetheart, Edward Nelson on June 13, 1959.  They moved to Portage in 1968, back to Randolph in 1976 and to Wild Rose in 1991, before moving back to the Randolph area in 2002.  Carol’s faith and love for her family was at the center of everything she did.   During retirement, Carol and Ed were blessed to participate in Builders for Christ, which took them to Africa, Antigua, Hawaii and other states, to help build or re-build churches and schools after natural disasters.  She supported her children and grandchildren’s activities – from football, baseball, basketball to singing recitals and choir concerts – cheering and encouraging them all.  Watching the Brewers,   UW -Men’s Basketball and Randolph Rockets were favorite activities.  She was known for her creative patches, anise cookies, and applesauce.  She loved watching birds and was thrilled with each new visitor to her feeders.

She participated in groups such as Ladies Aid, Altar Guild and choir in each of the churches she attended throughout her life.

Family remaining to honor her memory include her soulmate and husband of nearly 55 years, Edward; three cherished children and spouses, Laurie (Marcus) Paul, Lisa (Daryl) Tessmann, and Paul (Kristin) Nelson and Paul’s first wife, Cherie Nelson; beloved grandchildren, Christopher (Kielia) Tessmann and Allyson Tessmann, Nathan(Briana) Paul and Ryan Paul, Stephanie, Kylee, and Logan Nelson; special great-grandchild, Anna Sigfried Tessmann; treasured sisters, Phyllis Leonard and Mary(Roger) Jauregui;  dear in-laws, Vera Erdman, Millie Schultz, Jean McDonald, Gilbert(Joan) Nelson, Jerry Nelson, Merry Ann(Ken) Schindel, and many, many nieces, nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father-in-law, Frank and Emma Nelson; sisters, Elaine and Margie; sisters-and brothers-in-law, Vernon, Howard, Viola, Wilbert, Robert, Earl, and Richard.

A visitation will also be held on Thursday, May 29th from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church.  Inurnment will be at Randolph Cemetery.
