Betty R. Van Buren, 90, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2014 with her grandson Chad and great grandson Ethan by her side at Golden Living Center-Continental Manor in Randolph, Wisconsin.
Funeral services for Betty will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam with Rev. Tim Ehrhardt officiating. A visitation will also be held on Thursday, July 10th from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Highland Memory Gardens in the township of Trenton, Wisconsin.
Betty Rose was born the daughter of Cadwell and Mabel (Aurand) Wiltse on January 5, 1924 in Britt, Iowa. At age of four the family moved to Freeport, IL. She attended schools in Freeport and Orangeville, IL.
On July 1, 1944 she married Alvin H. Mann at the Methodist Church in Freeport. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1969. On July 24, 1971, she married Horace D. “Scotty” Scott. He died on February 1, 1987. On October 24, 1992, she married Gerrit Van Buren. He died on August 17, 1999.
Most of her working years were spent with her husband Alvin making cheese in Illinois and Wisconsin. They also owned and operated Al’s Bar in Randolph for many years. She also worked at Precision Metalsmiths in Markesan and later at Helbing’s Supper Club in Beaver Dam. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Randolph.
Betty is survived by her sons: Alvin “Jim” (Beth) Mann of Brandon, and
Earl (Trudy) Mann of Randolph; her step-children: Terry (Suzie) Scott of La Grange, IL, Larry (Barb Frank) Scott of Fox Lake, Sue (Garrie) Trattles of Pardeeville, Betty (Robert) Fehl of Black River Falls and Judy Van Buren of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great grandson. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers: Leavon and Kenneth Wiltse, daughter-in-law, Judy Mann, step sons: Keith Scott and Marvin Van Buren.
Memorials may be directed to the First Reformed Church in Randolph.
