Obituary: June I. Rasmussen

June I. Rasmussen, 88, a lifelong resident of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the Arcadia Assisted Living Center.

Funeral services for June will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam with the Rev. Jeff Nicholas officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Sunday, July 20th from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. A lunch will be served at the funeral home following the funeral service for family and friends.

June Iris was born the daughter of George and Leona (Wendt) Berent on June 10, 1926 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.  She was a 1944 graduate of Beaver Dam High School.  On March 26, 1949, she was married to Bruce R. Rasmussen in Beaver Dam.

June was a dedicated, devoted and loving Mother and Grandmother. She was beloved by many.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Beaver Dam.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, camping, traveling and going out to eat.  She especially enjoyed traveling with her husband Bruce to their yearly Army reunions.  June loved music; especially Big Band music and attending the Community Concert performances.

June is survived by children: Atty. Scott B. (Melanie Macdonald) Rasmussen of Beaver Dam, Crystal L. (Bill Hecht) Rasmussen of Madison, Lisa M. (Mark) Rasmussen-Middy of Redding, California and Laurie A. Rasmussen of Sun Prairie; her grandchildren: Michael C. (fiancée Kendra Schmidt) Rasmussen, Jeremy K. Zumm and Nicholas G. Zumm; her sister Jeaniene (Bill) Hoag of Beaver Dam.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bruce in 2006, her brother Lloyd Berent, her sister Eloise Berent and her nephew George Berent.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Clothes For Kids, 1019 S. Spring St., Beaver Dam, WI  53916 or to the Compassion Fund at Trinity United Methodist Church, 308 Oneida St., Beaver Dam, WI  53916.
