Mary L. Meier, 85, of Beaver Dam passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.
Funeral Services for Mary will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam with the Rev. Seth Dorm officiating. A visitation will also be held on Friday, July 25th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in the township of Trenton, Wisconsin.
Mary was born the daughter of Clarence and Mabel (Vossekuil) Groling on November 26, 1928. She was a 1947 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. On April 14, 1951, she was married to Harry E. Meier at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church by Rev. Kirst.
Mary was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had been employed as a CNA at the Lutheran Hospital/Lakeview Unit for over 30 years and also the Meitzel Bakery in Columbus for 6 years.
She was a member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. Mary enjoyed baking, bowling, DQ, going to the Fireside, and going for a ride aka gambling. She loved vacations, gardening, holiday decorating and watching out for her neighbors. She truly treasured time spent with family and friends.
Mary had been a resident at Arcadia Assisted living for three years. She was on the Welcoming Committee. She enjoyed doing crafts and various activities especially planting flowers. She made many new friends and loved the staff at Arcadia.
Mary is survived by her daughter Helen (Mike) Voit of Lindenhurst, IL; her daughter-in-law Cindy Hafenstein of Beaver Dam; her daughter Donna (Denise Strahm) Meier of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren: Rachel Black, Amy (Tony) Gunderson, Stacey (James) Steger, Christopher (Stephanie) Meier, Sarah Black, Robert (Tracy) Black and Daniel Black; 16 great grandchildren, cousins, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry in 2003 and her son David in 2012.
