Obituary: Raymond John Dobbratz

Raymond John Dobbratz, age 97 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 21, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam.

Raymond was born on June 27, 1917 in the town of Lebanon, WI to Emil and Emily (Zubke) Dobbratz Sr. He attended German and English school in Lebanon and proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked at Universal Foods Corporation in Juneau for many years. On July 3, 1938, Raymond was united in marriage to Alice Hanke at St. John’s in Watertown; she preceded him in death in 1988. He was married to Della Schultz in 1989; she also preceded him in death in 2011.Raymond was a member of Trinity Church – United Methodist in Beaver Dam and Juneau American Legion Post 15.

Raymond is survived by his three daughters, Caroline (Dale) Maas of Watertown, Blondina Krause of Juneau and Gertrude (Norman) Tillema of Juneau; two sons, LeRoy (Dorothy) Dobbratz of Elroy, WI and Donald (Rosemary) Dobbratz of Juneau; two step-sons, Ronald (Linda) Schultz of Milwaukee and Randall (Karen) Schultz of Madison; 17 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Dobbratz of Hustisford. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Alice, his second wife, Della, his brothers, Emil Jr., Edgar, Wilford, Alvin, Martin and Harold Dobbratz, his sisters, Elizabeth Krause, Blondina Mueller, Emilie and Gertrude in infancy, his son-in-law, Werner Krause and his granddaughter, Kimberly Paswaters.

A Funeral Service for Raymond will be held on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam with Rev. Jeffery Nicholas officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service at Cornerstone, beginning at 9:00 a.m. A luncheon will be served immediately following the service at Cornerstone. Raymond will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens in the town of Trenton with graveside military honors provided by the Juneau American Legion Post #15.
