Obituary: Gertrude E. Maas

Gertrude E. Maas, 93, of Beaver Dam passed away on Friday, August 08, 2014 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Gertrude was born the daughter of Walter and Lena (Priest) Loeck on May 24, 1921 in Lomira, WI.  She was married to Carl F. Maas on May 3, 1941.  Gertrude was a member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church where she attended St. Stephen’s Elementary School.  Besides being a faithful homemaker, she was employed at various shoe companies throughout the area.  Gertrude loved to garden and cook.  Her hobbies also included crocheting. 

Gertrude is survived by her husband of 73 years, Carl of Beaver Dam; her son, Larry W. (Mary) Maas of Sturgeon Bay; her daughter, Shirley (Alan) Winter of Beaver Dam; her four grandchildren: Kevin and Kyle Winter and Todd and Tyler Maas; her three great-grandchildren: Allison Winter and Trenton and Trey Maas; her brother, Junior (Barbara) Loeck of Beaver Dam; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Waldemar, Karl, Leona, Lillian and her twin brother in infancy.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2014 at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Rd., Beaver Dam with the Rev. Paul Stratman officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Monday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at Highland Memory Gardens, Township of Trenton, WI. 

Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
