Obituary: Michael Connaughty

Michael Connaughty, age 70 of Beaver Dam, died peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Autumn Bay Memory Care facility in Ripon, WI. 

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Beverly (Gentz) Connaughty; son Christopher and wife Sarah Connaughty; son Patrick and wife Joey Connaughty; grandchildren Madelyn, Maya, Silas, Grahm, and Jack Connaughty; and sister Mary Connaughty-Sullivan and husband Dan Sullivan.

Michael was born in Beaver Dam, WI on May 10, 1944 to Milton and Margaret Connaughty (deceased), graduated from Beaver Dam High School, and worked at Jerrold’s Clothing Store for many years before joining Prudential Insurance Company.  An avid sportsman, Michael deeply enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and trap shooting.  His beloved hunting dogs were always at his side—literally even sleeping in bed with him!  Michael was president of the Beaver Dam Conservation Club for many years and was also a member of the Fox Lake Golf Club.  Michael served our country in the National Guard and was also a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Michael will always be remembered for his warmth, his gentle spirit, and his great sense of humor.

A memorial service will be held in Michael’s honor on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd, Beaver Dam.  Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m. and service begins at 1:00 p.m. with Deacon Ed Cody officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Town of Trenton.  Friends and family are encouraged to join in this celebration of a life well lived. 

In lieu of flowers or other memorials, donations to the Beaver Dam Conservation Club, W9554 Cty. Hwy G, Beaver Dam, WI 53916, would be humbly appreciated.
