Obituary: Elaine Margaret Wilde

Elaine Margaret Wilde, age 92 of Markesan, passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at the Markesan Resident Home.

Elaine was born on October 20, 1921 in Markesan, the daughter of Frank and Eva (Malitzka) Schweder. Elaine was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John’s in Markesan. She married Leslie Maurice Wilde on June 3, 1951. Elaine attended Markesan Elementary and High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for E.W.Wilde and Sons, which later became Wilde Implement. She also spent thirty summers working at the Del Monte Canning Corporation in Markesan, until the age of 86. She enjoyed the job and the people she worked with. Elaine’s favorite pastime was playing bridge. She was involved in various clubs throughout her life. She retired from playing at the age of 91.

Elaine is survived by one sister, Irene Westover of Markesan; one brother, Norman Schweder of Markesan; one brother-in-law, Ray Wilde of Markesan; three sisters-in-law, Lucille Schweder and Mabel Schweder of Markesan and Delores Schweder of Marquette; four children, William (Barb) Wilde of Madison, Nancy Baisden of Beaver Dam, Leslie (Dennis) Dallman and Anne Wilde of Markesan; seven grandchildren, Leah (Jeremy) Jackowski, Danielle (Rick) Edgerton, Michelle Baisden, Scott (Rachel) Baisden, William S. Wilde, Issac Dallman and Alex Dallman; four great-grandchildren, Kayden, Braden, Jordy and Rylea; many nieces and nephews and close friends, Ginny Tetzlaff, Marilyn Haas, Don and Lita Reif and Kathy Laper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie in February 1997 and her daughter, Joan in January 1997; also five sisters, Esther Weiland, Ruth Keeney, Dorothy Fogtman, Olive Embs and Violet Barlow; and seven brothers, Henry “Heinie” Schulz, Howard Schulz, Palmer Schweder, Orrin “Bud” Schweder, Glen Schweder, Merrill Schweder and Keith Schweder.

A funeral service for Elaine will be on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 65 W. Catherine Street, Markesan with Rev. Jason Jobs officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at church, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Markesan Memorial Cemetery.
