Obituary: Lorraine Edith Janz

Lorraine Edith Janz, 85, joined her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 19, 2014.  She passed away at Eagles Wings in Beaver Dam.

Lorraine was born on January 19, 1929 in Beaver Dam, she was the third born child of William C. and Ida L. (Tews) Jaehnke.

Lorraine attended her first two years of grade school in a one-room schoolhouse in South Beaver Dam.  She then attended St. Stephen’s  Lutheran School and graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1947.  After graduation, she went to work in the administrative offices of Monarch Range in Beaver Dam.  She continued to work there until her marriage in 1951.  On July 28, 1951, she married Albert Franklin Janz, son of Joseph J. and Theresa K. (Planasch) Janz.  Together they raised nine children.  They enjoyed taking trips to Europe, Hawaii and many areas in the United States visiting family and friends.  Lorraine and Albert celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2001.

Lorraine was a life-long member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.  She enjoyed her daily walks, reading, baking and cooking for her large family and bowling in various leagues which she continued to do until she turned 80.

She is survived by her nine children: Cynthia (Dennis) Zaklan of Las Cruces, NM, Lori (Jon) Luck of Burnett, Annette (Dean) Brezinsky of Waupun, Christine (William) Sutton, Anthony (Cindy) Janz, Marsha (David) Schultz, Joseph (Sheri) Janz, Peter (Dorothy) Janz and James (Deborah) Janz all of Beaver Dam; her brothers: Edgar (Marilyn) Jaehnke of Los Angeles, CA, Donald Jaehnke of Houston, TX, Lyle (Shirley) Jaehnke of Beaver Dam, David (Lynn) Jaehnke of Clovis, NM and one sister Audrey Michel of Beaver Dam.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Joshua, Blake, Stacey, Sandra, Annette, Samantha, Adam, Amanda, Heather, Jessica, Nicholas, Timothy, Jennifer, Amber, Melissa, Matthew, Colton, Olivia, Erica, Christopher, Corey and Diana; 22 great grandchildren and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her loving parents and husband Albert who passed away on May 15, 2007.

A visitation for Lorraine will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 300 West Street, Beaver Dam.  A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Philip Heyer officiating.  Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
