Obituary: Dean W. Tessmann

Dean W. Tessmann, 78, of Burnett passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at UW Hospital in Madison.

A memorial gathering in Dean’s honor will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Rd., Beaver Dam and cremation is to occur. 

Dean William was born the son of Ervin and Eunice (Krueger) Tessmann on November 16, 1935 in Columbus, WI.  He was a 1953 graduate of Randolph High School.  In 1958, he received his Bachelors of Science degree from UW-Platteville in Industrial Arts.  Dean was married to Janet H. Goetsch on June 12, 1965 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Burnett.  He was employed as a rural mail carrier in the Burnett area for the U.S. Postal Service and for the majority of his career, Dean worked as a farmer in the Burnett area.  Dean enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and horses.  He was a member of the Lost Dutchman Mining Association where he was able to travel to Alaska. 

Dean is survived by his twin sons: Shawn and Shane Tessmann of Burnett; his brother, Glen (Loretta) Tessmann of Friesland; and further survived by cousins, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Janet in 2013.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or to the charity of one’s choice.
