Obituary: Clifford E. Tjugum

Clifford E. Tjugum, 94, of Columbus passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at The Meadows Assisted Living in Fall River.

Clifford was born the son of Charles and Clara (Halverson) Tjugum on February 24, 1920 in Sun Prairie.  He was married to Ethel M. Donkle on August 23, 1941 in Madison.  Clifford was employed as a truck driver and owned his own milk route.  He later retired from FS in Columbus. 

Clifford served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.  He was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus and a member of Columbus American Legion.  Clifford enjoyed the outdoors especially camping, fishing and hunting.  He will be missed.

Clifford is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Ethel of Columbus; his sons: Kieth (Pat) Tjugum and Jerome Tjugum both of Columbus; four grandchildren: Tonja (Tom) Perry of Columbus, Colleen (Chad) Dykstra of Fall River, Stephanie Vick of Columbus and Michelle (Jerry) Burns of Columbus; his sisters: Hazel Buss of Beaver Dam and Shirley (Robert) Konkel of Mondovi; nine great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; two step great-great grandchildren; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters: Gladys Hauge and Virginia Roisum and his daughter-in-law, Rosemary Tjugum.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Columbus with the Rev. Robert Wilke officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church.  Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus with graveside military honors conducted by the Columbus American Legion. 

Memorials may be directed to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church or to the Columbus Community Hospital both of Columbus.
