Jerome Vogt, age 86, of Beaver Dam, died Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
Visitation for Jerry will be at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 511 S. Spring Street in Beaver Dam, on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 11:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Thursday beginning at 11:30 AM with Fr. Michael Erwin officiating. Inurnment will be at Oakwood Cemetery on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 10:00 AM with military honors provided by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146.
Jerome was born on August 9, 1928 to Frank and Clara (Timmer) Vogt. He was united in marriage with Mildred Oelhafen on June 6, 1953 in West Bend. Jerry served in the US Navy during the Korean War onboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier. He worked for Cummins Diesel as a diesel mechanic for many years; he then worked for DMT Corp and traveled throughout the world working on diesel electricity generators. He traveled to Arizona and Florida with his RV for the winters. Jerry liked to stay busy and enjoyed cutting grass at Rockwood Retaining Wall Block through this year. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR.
Survivors include his three sons, Gary (Careyann) Vogt of Germantown, Dale (Nancy) Vogt of Horicon, and Tom Vogt (Sue Bintzler) of Juneau; seven grandchildren, Dr. Matthew (Breanna) Vogt of Rochester, MN, Alyssa (Ryan) Alt of Dubuque, IA, Jerome Vogt of Horicon, Nicole (Ray) Crego of Iron Ridge, Cheyenne Vogt (fiancé Kevin Peterson) of Neshkoro, Samantha (Thomas) Peek of Grand Rapids, MI, and Danielle Udelhofen (fiancé Jim Wash) of Burnett; good friends, John & Pat Kluz and Ken Hahn; other relatives and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2003; infant son Randall in 1954; and his sister, Viola Michalak.
