Obituary: Eleanor Bagniewski

Eleanor Bagniewski, age 102, of Beaver Dam died on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Hillside Manor in Beaver Dam.

A visitation will take place at St. Katharine Drexel Church on Monday, December 8, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at church on Monday at 11:30 a.m. Eleanor’s grandson, the Rev. Todd Budde, will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.

Eleanor was born on June 3, 1912 in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Edward and Martha (Sromalski) Evans. As a child she lived in Beaver Dam, Horicon, and Milwaukee, and returned to Beaver Dam in 1934.  On May 18, 1935, Eleanor was united in marriage with Simon Bagniewski in Beaver Dam.  She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and was a member of the Rosary Society. She was also the longest member of the Sacred Heart League. Eleanor sang in the church choir for many years. Her hobbies were playing the organ and having a flower garden, but most of all Eleanor loved her family.

Eleanor is survived by her two daughters, Barbara (David) Budde of Beaver Dam and Susan (Craig) Tesch of Stevens Point; two grandsons, Gregory (Mary) Budde of Menomonie Falls and Rev. Todd Budde of Grafton; a granddaughter, Kimberly Tesch of Monona; a great grandson, Alexander Budde of Menomonie Falls; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 1985; an infant son, David Lee, in 1937; her sisters, Lucille (Mathew) Drzewoszewski, Adelaide (Orlando) Strobel and Ruth (Abner) Kops; brothers-in-law, Wallace Hammer, and Roman (Sophie) Bagniewski; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anton & Pelagia Bagniewski.
