Frederick G. Lambert, formerly of Reeseville, died on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam. He was 95 years old.

A memorial service/celebration-of-life will be held in May 2015, with inurnment at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Lowell, Wisconsin.

Frederick George Lambert was born on May 23, 1919 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Frederick and Dorothy (Hayden) Lambert. He and his brother Edward joined the United States Army on September 25, 1941 during WWII, and he was honorably discharged on October 6, 1945 with several decorations, including a Bronze Star.

On June 1, 1948 he was united in marriage with Dorothy M. Pickhardt of Reeseville. They moved to California to work and, eventually, raise four children. Fred was a skilled carpenter and craftsman. With Dorothy at his side, he built three homes and remodeled three others. Always well-tended and welcoming, their homes were a reflection of their hearts.

Fred loved burls and old hardwood, delighting everyone with his carvings of dogs, cats, birds, seals, elephants, rhinos, people… and many rabbits. He also taught himself the art of stained glass, repairing and creating lovely pieces. He enjoyed collecting coins, guns, old bottles and oddly shaped rocks or driftwood. Before Dorothy died in 2008, they took daily walks and remodeled their final home in Reeseville.

The last five years of Fred’s life were spent in the care of hard-working aides and nurses at Golden Living Center in Beaver Dam. Their warmth and humor buoyed Dad’s spirit, every day of his time there. His three surviving children are profoundly grateful to Jennifer Fellin (ACU Director), Lee, and the entire staff of the Alzheimer’s Care Unit for respecting and loving Dad so well. He was truly “at home”. Thank you.

Fred is survived by his daughters, Marilyn (Gary) McNabb of Eugene, OR, Susan (Peter) Flanders of Watsonville, CA; his son, Robert (Bridgette) Lambert of Anacortes, WA; six grandchildren, Grace McNabb, Casey McNabb, Emily Flanders, Alan Flanders, Claire Lambert and Michael Lambert; four great grandchildren; dear in-laws, nieces and nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; his son, Edward Lambert; sisters, Irene and Helen; and brother, Edward.

The family suggests that memorials be made in Frederick’s name to Golden Living Center, 410 Roedl Court, Beaver Dam, WI 53916.
