Obituary: Clifford J. Jackman

Clifford J. Jackman, 93, a resident of Sylan Crossing passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 30, 2014.

Clifford James Jackman was born February 15, 1921 in the township of Westford to Benedict and Edna (Voeltner) Jackman.  He attended rural school in Westford and worked on the family farm until he was 18. 

Cliff served his country in the 2nd Infantry Division of the US Army from September 1939 until October 1945.  He was in five campaigns of WWII, European Theater of Operations.  He was a member of the following associations:  2nd Division, VFW, American Legion and National Rifle.  Following his Army service, he lived in Sherman Oaks, CA and was an auto body technician and worked on both foreign and domestic automobiles.  Upon his retirement, he returned to Beaver Dam.

He is survived by his sister Mercedes Janisch of Beaver Dam and 4 nephews: Douglas (Alice) Janisch of Florida, Bill and Charles Janisch of Beaver Dam, Jon (Noreen) Paar of Greendale, WI and niece Beverly Meyerring of Greenfield, WI.  He is further survived by many grand nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Merdell Paar and Audrey Jahncke, 3 brothers-in-law: Isadore Janisch, Anton Paar and Ralph Jahncke; and nephew Thomas Janisch.

Funeral service for Clifford will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with the Rev. Dietrich R. Gruen officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Friday, Jan. 2nd from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146 to meet at 2:00 to pay their respects. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery with graveside Military Honors conducted by the Beaver Dam American Legion Post #146.
