Obituary: Peter O. Drolshagen

Peter O. Drolshagen, Jr., 80, of Columbus passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Lakeview Nursing Home in West Salem, WI after a long battle with Parkinson ’s disease.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at St. Jerome Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Steve Kortendick officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Columbus with military honors conducted by the Columbus VFW #8090.

Peter was born the son of Peter Oscar and Leona (Wodill) Drolshagen on March 11, 1934 in Dodge County, WI.  He was married to Rachel Wendt, who preceded him in death.  He later married Jeanette Drzonek on April 11, 1989 in Columbus.  Peter was a graduate of Columbus High School.  He retired as sergeant from the Columbus Police Department after 20 years of service to his community. 

Peter served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Columbus.  Peter loved the outdoors especially deer hunting.  He also enjoyed gardening and kept a large garden.  He will be remembered as a handyman who could fix almost anything. 

Peter is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jeanette of Columbus; his children: Gary Drolshagen of Theresa, Angela (Charles) Kunde of Colgate, WI and Amy (Bryan) Reed of McFarlane; two grandchildren: Kasey and Dakota; his step-children: Gerrie (Michael) Waldon of Texas and Michele Gaudes of Fall River; his step-grandchildren: Mikaela and Annabelle; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Rachel, his infant son David, his brothers and one sister.
