Obituary: Dorothy E. “Babe” Gunderson

Dorothy E. “Babe” Gunderson, 77, of Beaver Dam passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Hillside Manor surrounded by her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2015 at St. Katharine Drexel Church in Beaver Dam with the Rev. Michael Erwin officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment will take place at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

Dorothy Elizabeth was born the daughter of Ezra and Caroline (Braker) Anderson on June 23, 1937 in Beaver Dam.  She was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School.  Babe was employed with Weyenberg Shoe Factory in Beaver Dam for many years until her retirement.  She was united in marriage with Gerald “Gunner” Gunderson on December 10, 1993.

Babe was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam.  She enjoyed taking trips to the casinos with her friends.  She was an avid bowler for many years.  Babe enjoyed spending time “up – north” with her husband and friends.  She will be remembered as her family’s photographer and making sure family pictures were taken. 

Babe is survived by her siblings: Bonnie (Raymond) Murray, Rod (Bev) Anderson, and Connie (William) Veling all of Beaver Dam; her step-children: Kelly Gunderson, Kevin Gunderson, Kerri Olson, Clint Gunderson; and their children.  She is further survived by special nieces, nephews and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gerald in 2006, six brothers and four sisters.

Memorials may be directed to St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam or to cancer research.
