Roger H. Luckow, age 69 of Beaver Dam, passed away January 18, 2015, in the same farmhouse room he was born in on November 1, 1945, on the farm he loved.

Roger was born to Elmer A. Luckow and Dorothy V. (Krueger) Luckow.  He attended grade school down the road at Park Lawn Elementary, was very active in the Leipsic 4H Club as a youth, and graduated from Beaver Dam Senior High School in 1963.  He went on to study at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agronomy in 1969, after which he returned to farm with his parents south of Beaver Dam in the Town of Lowell.

On July 15, 1972, Roger married Susan M. Hemling at St Stephen’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.  They were blessed with three children, Angela M. (Bradley) Woerishofer of Watertown, Matthew H. (Erika) Luckow of Germantown, and Amy L. (Dylan) Bolin of Milwaukee.

Roger was an extremely devoted husband and father, always putting his wife and children first in any decision he made.  He was most happy when any of them were around or when he was outside on a tractor or in a combine or truck, driving anywhere checking out farmland and crops, tinkering around in the shed or with one of many dogs that were blessed enough to be spoiled by him.  He was involved in several agricultural leadership organizations including Beaver Dam Agribusiness and Wisconsin Rural Leadership, with which he was able to take a special trip to and study agriculture in Russia and Poland in 1988. In addition to farming, he worked for Golden Harvest Seed Company, BASF and Fabco-Caterpillar.  He was always a student, always reading, always learning and could always be counted on for his words of advice, encouragement, and his promises of prayers on your behalf for the Lord’s blessings.  He would drop whatever he was doing to help out a family member, friend, or neighbor and was a most joyful and loving Grandpa Luckow to his four granddaughters, Gwendolyn M. Woerishofer, Margarite L. Woerishofer, Eleanora L. Bolin and Eliana C. Luckow.

Roger is survived by his wife, children, granddaughters; his sister, Loraine L. (Ernest) Larson of Casa Grande, AZ; his mother-in-law, Inez C. Hemling of Beaver Dam; brothers-in-law, James W. (Harlo) Hemling and William R. (Diane) Hemling III, both of Beaver Dam; special uncle-in-law and aunt-in-law, Ray and Sylvia Uttech of Beaver Dam; and other cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, friends, and his dog Ally.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert E. Luckow in 1951; his father-in-law, William J. Hemling Jr; special cousin-in-law, Cynthia Wuesthoff; his infant niece, Sarah Hemling; other uncles, aunts, and cousins; several neighborhood and farmer friends; and many happy dogs.

A funeral service for Roger will be held on Saturday, January 24 at 11am at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 300 West St., Beaver Dam with Rev. Seth Dorn officiating. Burial will take place at Leipsig Cemetery, Town of Beaver Dam. Following the burial, a luncheon will be served at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam.
