Dale A. Henning, 77, was called home to his Heavenly Father on February 21, 2015 with his family by his side at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Dale was born December 29, 1937 to Reinhardt and Lily (Mueller) Henning in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Town of Clear Creek, Eau Claire County, WI.  He attended high school at Osseo High School and continued his education at UW-River Falls where he earned his teacher’s certificate. He was also a member of the Army Reserve.

On August 12, 1961 he married Emily Whitney at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.  They raised their three sons in Westfield, WI where Dale taught at the high school.  In 1974 the family moved to Columbus where Dale managed the Astico Milk Plant. He later was employed at Alto Dairy, Waupun, WI. He worked in the dairy industry for 38 years.

Dale was a dedicated father to his family.  He enjoyed the outdoors with them as they grew up. Baseball, hunting, woodworking, and gardening were a few of his favorites. He and Emily were active in polka dancing for many years. They loved to travel, and also dance and listen to their favorite bands in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. They loved to travel to state parks along their way. Dale loved his family as he loved his God. He was once quoted as saying, “I may not have been able to give a lot to my children but the most important thing I taught them was their faith in God.” He loved his church, Zion Lutheran Church, and loved to serve his Lord in various ways over the years.

Dale is survived by his wife of 53 years, Emily Henning; three sons, Alan (Lynn) Henning, Fall Creek, WI; Jeffrey (Susan) Henning, Columbus, WI; Jamie (Renae) Henning, Beaver Dam, WI; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn Henning,  Lance corporal Christopher Henning, Ryan, Kyle and Nathan Henning; two step grandchildren Kristy (James) Montgomery & Derrick Nelson.  He is also survived by his only brother Eldor Henning, Fall Creek, WI and his sisters-in-law Dee Poss, Mayfred Whitney, Bonnie Whitney and Jeannette Ives, Eau Claire and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters-in-law Dorothy Henning, Pauline Webber, Lila Stenseth, and Wanda Von Asten.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Columbus, with the Rev. Daniel Sims officiating.
