Obituary: Grace “Gracie” P. Storm

Grace “Gracie” P. Storm, age 94 of Beaver Dam, passed away peacefully at The Charleston House – Memory Care.

Gracie was born on November 27, 1920, the daughter of George and Helena (Haase) Wendt. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1939. On June 17, 1944, she was united in marriage to Donald “Rocky” Storm at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. She worked at Green Giant and Weyenberg Shoe Factory, where she retired from in 1985. Gracie was a member of St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, as well as “Sweet Adelines”. In her earlier years, she enjoyed bowling and playing baseball and softball. She was an avid Packer fan and loved listening to Bill McCollum’s “Barn Show”. Her hobbies also included gardening, playing cribbage and shaking dice. Gracie loved animals, and she always had a soft spot in her heart for cats and dogs. She was a loving, caring and light-hearted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she will be deeply missed.

Gracie is survived by her sons, Gary, Daryl (Tracy) and RJ (Debbie) Storm, all of Beaver Dam; her grandchildren, Joshua (Sara) Storm, Kyle (Lindsay) Storm, Melissa (Rick) Searvogel and Nathan Born; her great-grandchildren, Hartley and Jovie Storm, Aaron Jahnke, Erick (Emily), Hailey and Cody Searvogel; great-great-grandchildren, Kylie and Everette Searvogel; her sister-in-law, Jean (Don) Schmidt of Oklahoma; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, “Rocky”; daughter-in-law, Marlene; two grandsons, Adam and Tyler; two brothers; one sister and other relatives.

A funeral service for Gracie will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam with Rev. Paul Stratman officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at Cornerstone, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the service, burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam with a luncheon to follow back at Cornerstone.
