The new LED marquee sign at the Middle School was recently dedicated in memory of Mark “Doc” Schweizter. The Schweitzer family donated $20,000 for the purchase of the sign in honor of Mark.

Mr. Mark Schweitzer taught in the Beaver Dam Unified School District for 27 years, spending most of his time teaching social studies at the middle school. Mr. Schweitzer was an active member of our learning community, leading many endeavors that helped enrich the learning experiences of our students. Mr. Schweitzer dedicated countless hours coaching and refereeing athletic contests throughout our community and school district. The community of Beaver Dam sadly lost Mr. Schweitzer in October, 2013 to a 40 year fight with Crohn’s Disease and a short battle with cancer. Doc, as he was affectionately known throughout our community, will long be remembered as a champion of children, the Beaver Dam Unified School District and the education profession.

The Beaver Dam Unified School District would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Schweitzer family for their generous donation, specifically Marcia Watson, Bret Schweitzer and Dusty Schweitzer. In addition to the Schweitzer family, this gift was also made possible through donations gathered from the Mark Schweitzer Memorial Fund.
