Obituary: Shirley A. Thompson

Shirley A. Thompson, 81, of Beaver Dam passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

Memorial service for Shirley will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home, N7199 N. Crystal Lake Road, Beaver Dam with the Rev. Terry Larson officiating.  A visitation will also be held on Thursday, April 30th from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

Shirley Ann was born on May 14, 1933 the daughter of Sjouke and Dorothy (Stegner) Posthuma in Constantine, Michigan.  She was a graduate of Randolph High School.  On May 15, 1954, she was united in marriage to Ray H. Thompson in Randolph, Wisconsin.

Shirley had been employed at Winslow’s Hallmark for 14 years and also at Floral Expressions.  She had been a faithful member of First Ev. Lutheran Church.  She also enjoyed volunteering with the Red Cross, at the voting poll booths and with the Partners of the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.  Shirley also loved to travel.

Shirley is survived by her children: Steven (Joleen) Thompson of Beaver Dam, Brenda (Arthur) Hansen of Beaver Dam, Ross (Robyn) Thompson of Bloomington, MN and Scot Thompson of Chicago, IL; two grandchildren: Lyndi Jo (Dustin) Moldenhauer and Nickolas; three great grandchildren: Tanner, Collin and Austin; sisters: Karen (Richard) Kuiper of Oconomowoc and Joyce (John) Barnish of Hartland.  She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Ray in 1992.
