Gladys M. Maryott, 94 ½ years, of Beaver Dam and formerly of Titusville, FL passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam. The Rev. Chris Davis will officiate. A visitation will also be held on Monday, June 8th from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the church. A private family burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Jefferson.
Gladys Marie was born the daughter of August and Alvina (Wollin) Ottow on October 11, 1920 in Johnson Creek, WI. She was married to Clarence Maryott on July 20, 1940 in Dubuque, IA. Gladys graduated from Johnson Creek High School and later from Whitewater Teachers’ College. Gladys will be remembered as a hardworking person. She began her career as a teacher until she started her family. Later, together with her husband, Gladys farmed for many years while raising her family.
Gladys was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam. She was an avid reader and enjoyed staying up to date on current events. Gladys spent many hours cooking and baking for her family, and will be best remembered for her hickory nut cake.
Gladys is survived by her daughters: Virginia (Charles) Ganske of Beaver Dam, Judith Maryott of Titusville, FL, Shirley (Carl) Maas of Beaver Dam, Beverly (Keith) Hinz of Pickett, WI, and Linda (Charles) Bau of North Fond du Lac; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence in 2006, and two sons in infancy, Glen and Eugene.
Memorials may be directed to either Heartland Hospice or Grace Presbyterian Church in Beaver Dam.
