Obituary: Betty Yvonne Rechek

Betty Yvonne Rechek, 83 of Fox Lake, found eternal peace on June 17, 2015, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac.

Betty was born on April 20, 1932, the daughter of Elmer “Cy” and Maybelle Prochnow.  She attended school in Waupun.  On Oct. 3, 1953, Betty married Leonard Rechek.  Together they raised their seven children in Waupun and Fox Lake.

Betty was a 20 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 347 in Lomira and later of Post 521 in Fox Lake.  She and Lenny enjoyed visits to Legion events around the state.  Together they often traveled to the southern states for the winter months and appreciated the companionship of friends in Louisiana.  In their latter years fishing Mill Creek behind their home and visiting HoChunk Casino were favorite activities.

Betty adored sharing time with her children, grandson and grand dogs.  Watching Badger and Packer games along with admiring her flowers in bloom were some of her favorite pastimes.  She was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Fox Lake.

Betty is survived by her children: Richard (Lynn Gloege) Rechek, Manitowoc; Steven (Marie) Rechek, Fox Lake; Patti Schumacher, Beaver Dam; Thomas (Mary) Rechek, Fox Lake; Timothy (Lynn) Rechek, Beaver Dam; David (Laura) Rechek, Fox Lake; Lisa Rechek, Fox Lake; one grandson, Joshua Rechek, Madison; many step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. She is further survived by two brother and sister-in-laws along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by Leonard Rechek; her parents; her mother and father-in-law, Mildred & Walter Rechek; daughter-in-law, Mary Rechek and son-in-law Ron Schumacher.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Betty will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Annunciation Catholic Parish, 305 Green St., Fox Lake with Father Mike Wild as celebrant. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Memorial Park in Fox Lake.

Visitation for Betty will take place on Monday, June 22, 2015 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd. in Beaver Dam from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., as well as on Tuesday prior to the Mass at Annunciation Catholic Parish, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
