July 27, 2015 – Hartford, WI – The Schauer Arts and Activities Center, Inc. is pleased to announce that Joseph Konrad has been selected for the position of Executive Director.  As Executive Director, Joe will be responsible for the overall operations and management of the Schauer Center.

“We are so pleased that Joe is joining the team,” stated Schauer Board President Tracey Berg.  “We considered several qualified candidates and are confident that Joe’s depth of experience in non-profit leadership is the right fit for the current and future needs of the Schauer Center.”

Originally from southeast Wisconsin, Joe received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Columbia College, a Master’s degree in Organizational Management from Chadron State College, and a graduate certification in Fundraising Management from North Park University.  He previously served as the Executive Director of Battle Creek Area Habitat for Humanity in Battle Creek, MI and most recently worked as the Director of Administration at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown, WI.   His enthusiasm for the arts comes from growing up in a family that operated theaters in southeast Wisconsin.

“Of all the places we could have picked, my wife and I choose Hartford as our new Wisconsin home,” Joe said.  “It’s a small, family town, but it has such rich recreational and cultural resources, with the Schauer Center being one of its main anchors.  It is really a jewel in our community.”

Joe will fill the shoes of Brenda Lee Johnston who was the Schauer Center’s Executive Director from October 2012 to July 2015.

“I’ve had a chance to meet the Schauer Center staff and found them to be talented, creative, and full of energy,” added Joe.  “It will be very exciting to work with them.”

Joe will start his role as Executive Director on August 17, 2015.   The community is invited to meet Joe on Saturday, September 19 during a gallery reception from 6:30-7:30 pm, prior to the Pam Tillis concert.  Light refreshments and cash bar will be available.
