Obituary: Robert J. Limberg

Robert J. Limberg, age 94, died Wednesday, August 5,2 015 at his home in Beaver Dam.

Visitation for Bob will be at First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam on Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 9:30 to 10:50 a.m., the American Legion will conduct a walk through at 10:30 a.m.  Funeral services will follow at church on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mark Jensen officiating.  Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens in the Town of Trenton where military honor will be conducted.

Robert John Limberg was born on April 17, 1921 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to the late John and Leona (Caine) Limberg.  He met his future wife, Pearl Oestreich, on a blind date and on July 8, 1939, they were united in marriage in Waupun.  Bob served in the National Guard for four years before being drafted into the US Army as a medic during WW II.   Bob worked at Monarch Range for 42 years before retiring in in 1983.  They lived above a tavern they owned and operated in Waupun for three years.  Bob was an active member of the community and was part of a group that started Little League Baseball in Beaver Dam.  He was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam and the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 in Beaver Dam.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Limberg of Beaver Dam; three children, Lou Ann (Robert) Hughes of Merritt Island, FL, Darwin (Sarah) Limberg of Beaver Dam, and Kathleen Prieve of Rio; his sister, “Boots” Pilsbury of Waupun; 12 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; three great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Robert “Bobby” and Gary Lee; and a son-in-law, Marvin Prieve.

If desired, memorials may be made in Robert Limberg’s name to First Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
