Obituary: Janet “Jan” M. Eral

Janet “Jan” M. Eral of Beaver Dam passed from this earth on September 13, 2015 after nine years of battling ovarian cancer. 

Jan was born on August 8, 1952 in Chicago to Ray and Nanette Gudith.  Her formative years through high school were spent in Duluth, MN.  After graduation and working a couple of years in Duluth, Jan, with her spirit of adventure, moved on her own to Denver, CO in 1972.

She met her husband Gene Eral while in an office friendship and romance that continued until her passing.  Jan and Gene were married in June 1977.  The couple loved traveling, and over the 38 years of marriage lived in Denver, Salt Lake City, UT, Riverside, CA, Londonderry, NH, Milwuakee, and Beaver Dam, WI.  They loved being by the water.  They owned seasonal property on Beaver Dam Lake and in 2008 built their final retirement home on the lake.  They also enjoyed wintering in AZ, visiting family there, and touring the west.

Jan is survived by her husband, Gene; their daughter, Jennifer (Ray) Cook, and their cherished grandson, Jordan who live in Bellingham, WA.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Lyle.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1 p.m.  There will be a light luncheon reception at the funeral home following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jan’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
