Andrew R. “Andy” Warmka Jr, age 74, of Trenton township, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home, on Thursday, October 1, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Andrew was born the son of Andrew and Adeline (Lang) Warmka on May 17, 1941 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Beaver Dam. He was a 1959 graduate of Beaver Dam High School. Andrew was married to Betty J. Wolc on July 14, 1962 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. To that union was born 8 children. Andrew was a proud, lifelong dairy farmer in the Fox Lake area for 50 years. Besides farming, Andy enjoyed camping with the family, family reunions, Cranfest, farm shows, boating, polka music, the Old Barn Show, Sunday church dinners, vacationing in the northwoods and playing Huckley Buck cards & dominoes with the grandkids and “outlaws.” He also enjoyed running for parts for the boys as needed. He was a proud father, grandfather and family man and kept the family closest to his heart.
Andrew was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in Horicon. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Andrew was a proud supporter of the FFA and his children/grandchildrens activities.
Andrew is survived by the love of his life, Betty , his wife of 53 years, his children: Brenda (Jeff) Schegetz, Julie (Mike) Gabris, Wendy (Pat) Corlett, Russell (Laura) Warmka, Kim (Mark) Martel, Kirk (Kimberly) Warmka, Shelley (Randy Arnold) Warmka; Grandchildren: Brianna, Brock, & Brandon Schegetz; Katie & Megan Gabris; Jason (Ashley), Joshua & Aaron Corlett; Erik, Carrie, Brad & Danielle Warmka; Kelsey & Kaden Warmka; Andrea, Ashley & Emily Martel and Alexa Arnold. Great Grandchild Laird Corlett. Siblings: Mary Jean Reak, Barb (Wayne) Bortz, Richard (Shirley) Warmka and Adeline “Toots” (Jim) Boeder. Sisters in-law: Phyllis (Larry) Krueger, Shirley (Lyle) Jaehnke, Ann Warmka, Barb Warmka, Carol Wolc. Brothers in-law: Richard Herbst and Franklin Schlegel. As well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends with many living in the Minnesota area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant-daughter Christine, brothers: Joseph, James and David; sister, Joyce Herbst; father and mother-in-law: Clarence and Mildred (Arndt) Wolc, brothers-in-law: David Wolc, Don (Rose) Wolc, Clarence Wolc Jr.; and sisters-in-law: Shirley Schlegel and Geraldine (Ken) Stuhr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Horicon with the Rev. Mike Petrie officiating. A visitation will be held Monday, October 5, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam; and also at the church on Tuesday, October 6 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Interment will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
Memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in Horicon or to Hillside Hospice for their extended care. The family would like thank Dr. Bradley Kahl, UW Hospital-Madison and Dr. Amy Muchow and the oncology unit of Beaver Dam Community Hospital.
