Obituary: Audrey L. Michel

Audrey L. Michel, 81, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 14, 2015.

Audrey was born in Beaver Dam on August 15, 1934, the daughter of William and Ida (Tews) Jaehnke.  She attended St. Stephen’s Lutheran School and graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1952.  She then graduated from the Milwaukee County School of Nursing in 1955.  Audrey thoroughly enjoyed her years as a nurse and treasured the patients and co-workers she met over the course of her career. She especially remembered fondly her years at Lakeview Nursing Home in Beaver Dam.

She married William R. Michel on May 2, 1959 at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam. They were blessed with 43 years together and raised 3 children.

Audrey is survived by her children: William O. Michel of Beaver Dam, Kathleen Michel of Milwaukee, and Sara Beyer of Appleton; her grandchildren: Michael (Amy) Burmester, and Karissa Burmester both of Beaver Dam; Jordan, Madelyn, and Emily Beyer of Appleton; and one great grandchild, Isabella; her brothers: Edgar (Marilyn) Jaehnke of Los Angeles, CA, Donald Jaehnke of Houston, TX, Lyle (Shirley) Jaehnke of Beaver Dam, and David (Lynn) Jaehnke of Clovis, NM. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband William, in 2002, her grandson, Nathaniel, in 2009, and her sister Lorraine, in 2014.

A visitation will be held Monday, October 19, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 300 West Street, Beaver Dam. The funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Philip Heyer officiating. Interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be directed to St. Stephen’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
