A Mighty Buck

follows those,
because it’s true,
The Hunter knows,
the big track shows
where the Big Buck goes.
So setting off without delay,
The Hunter stalks his wary prey,
who far ahead has bedded down,
with ears alert for any sound.
Sneaking slowly through the trees,
A Mighty Buck The Hunter sees.
A snapping stick, The Buck’s awake,
a safety click, he makes a break.

The bullet flies, but wild it sails,
a final glimpse, a flash of tail.
