Obituary: Harold E. Nagler

Harold E. Nagler, age 89, died Monday, November 30, 2015 at his home in Beaver Dam.

Visitation for Harold will be at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam on Monday, December 7, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. with the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 paying their respects at 10:30 a.m.  Funeral services will follow at church on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Mark Jensen and Vicar Pat Schutz officiating. 

Harold was born on April 16, 1926 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin to the late Henry and Lillian (Belling) Nagler.  He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1944 and later attended UW Stout.  Harold served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946.  He worked forC.C Linck, Inc. for many years and he served on the Board of the Wisconsin Road Builders.  Harold was an active member of the Beaver Dam Community; he was a devoted member of the Lions Club and served as District Governor from 1994 to 1995. He also served on the Beaver Dam Board of Appeals. He was a member of the Beaver Dam Lake Improvement Organization,and sang with the Barbershop Chorus for many years. He was a fifth-generation member of First Ev. Lutheran Church.  Harold was also a member of the John E. Miller American Legion Post #146 and felt privileged to be involved with the Badger Honor Flight.  Harold enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting deer, geese and pheasants.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Nagler of Beaver Dam; three children, John Nagler of Fox Lake, Jacquelyn (James) Schutz of Madison, and Jane (Jeffrey) Suhling of Opelika, AL; his grandchildren, Jolene Binder, Jennifer Nagler (fiancé Dustin Schultz), Jessica (Chad) Reifsnider, JoDee Nagler, Jason Nagler (Fiancée Leah Walker), Emilie Hancock (Matthew Byrne), Leah (Michael) Viola, Chloe (Sam) Crouse, Alec Schutz (fiancée Anna Litzkow), Claire Suhling, and Frederick Suhling; his great grandchildren, Joseph, Kensington, and Bennett Reifsnider, Jack and Audrey Viola, and Caroline Crouse; his sisters, Florence Rhodes and Marion Wild Slovak, of Beaver Dam; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Harold was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Esther Buss and Carol Nagler in infancy.

Memorials may be made to Wisconsin Lions Eye Bank or First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
