Obituary: Lester J. Tiedt

Lester J. Tiedt, age 75 of Burnett, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at home.

Les was born on August 6, 1940 in Columbus, the son of Lester E. and Mabel A. (Duncan) Tiedt. He graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1958. He helped haul milk and worked on the family farm until he was drafted into the National Guard in 1963, and later the Army, proudly serving his country for over six years. Les hauled milk for over 55 years and also worked at John Deere for over 30 years.

On June 20, 1964, he was united in marriage to the mother of his children Patricia R. Groh. He was united in marriage to Gail Dauman in Beaver Dam on March 24, 2001. Throughout retirement, Les continued trucking, doing odd jobs and helping others. Les was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Beaver Dam and John E. Miller American Legion Post 146. Healso had a great love for his Belgium horses.

Les is survived by his wife, Gail of Beaver Dam; his four sons, John (Kristi) of Green Bay, Jim (Brenda) of Green Bay, Travis (Kari) of Kaukauna and Rick (Deanna) of Naperville, IL; five grandchildren; his mother, Mabel Tiedt-Schley of Beaver Dam; one brother, Gary (Sandi) Tiedt of Beaver Dam; two sister-in-laws; his step-children, John (Melissa) Kraus of Beaver Dam, Patricia Knoll of Lowell, Daniel Kraus of Beaver Dam, Kenneth Kraus of Atlanta, GA, Anna (Frank) Kraus of Stoughton; five step-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, Robert and Ronald and other relatives.

A Mass of Christian Burial of Lester will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring St., Beaver Dam with Fr. Mike Erwin as celebrant. Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Beaver Dam with graveside military honors provided by the John E. Miller American Legion Post 146.

Visitation for Lester will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd., Beaver Dam and also on Tuesday prior to the Mass at church, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Legion members are invited for a walk-through to pay their respects on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Cornerstone.
